INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS FOR 2023

With 2022 quickly drawing to a close and 2023 fast approaching we begin to think of the trends that the interior design world holds for us all.  Questionably, are we inclined to follow the trends that are set by those who purport to know what we should all have in our homes or are we more personal in our choices and decide on what exactly we like ourselves?

That is certainly a big question and one which I certainly would never presume to answer. However lets just see what the designers say, for talk sake if nothing else....

In general, the consensus is that we can expect to see lots of earthy tones, warm neutrals, pink hues, and more experimentation with rich, dark accents and pops of color. Grey and white for walls are out, these have been strong colours for the past number of years but the trend is firmly moving towards a more colourful world within our homes.

Take a look at Pantone Colour of the Year recently announced,

Viva Magenta
The brand describes the shade as a “crimson red tone that presents a balance between warm and cool.”

The general consensus is that people have been slightly afraid to embrace bolder colours over the past few years but that does not seem to be the case for 2023 with homeowners generally taking the plunge and deciding to decorate with more bold and vibrant colour schemes.

Earth Tones

The recently-announced Sherwin Williams colour of the year is an indication that warm earthy tones are here to stay in 2023. Redend Point is a clay like warm neutral with a hint of pink peeking through. It will bring a cosy feel to any space within your home. This colour compared to the earthy colours which were popular in the 1990s, has a more boho but yet quite a modern feel. The less distinct and more muted tones of terracotta, green, yellow, and plum will be popular choices for wall paint and home decor. While these colors are warm and natural-looking they will provide some contrast to the wood tones which are returning to our furniture choices.

ACCENT WALLS

Accent walls will continue to feature in our home decoration for 2023 and it is expected that we will see this feature more than heretofore. These add definition and eye-catching quality to areas of our homes and will continue to do so in 2023. Why not try for an accent wall with a textured wallpaper in a similar colour to the walls, which will help bring the scheme together and create a focus point in an otherwise ordinary colour palette.

The new  Dulux Heritage Range of paints has brought a new and magnificent array of indoor colours to our lives including colours such as Olive Tree, Ravens Flight, and Mud Lark.  These tones create beautiful accents to the colour schemes in our homes.

Allow the collection from Farrow and Ball to bring a wealth of deep and alluring colour to your home for 2023 with colours such as Skimming Stone, Railings and De Nimes all of which will never fail to disappoint.

Little Greene and Paint and Paper Library will also not disappoint with their array of colours which will ensure your home is filled with tones which entice and allow us to feel both comfortable and daring in our colour choices with colours such as Obsidian Green and Pompeian Ash and much much more.

In conclusion, there is so much choice when it comes to colour and decor for our homes.  Let loose and be daring and don't just follow the trend, why not make your own. After all it is you who will live within those walls and it is you who needs to love what you choose. The secret is to enjoy the process and make a difference, if only for yourself.
