Autumn is  definitely the time to start thinking about making the all important Christmas Cakes and Puddings.  Traditionally my Mam always had her cakes and puddings made by the end of September every year. She was a Cook by trade and a very good one at that so I continued on with her advice and now start my baking by end of September or early October.  Working fulltime makes finding time to do these tasks a little difficult but it is well worth the effort when Christmas comes and you have a beautifully matured cake and pudding to add to the Christmas festivities.

Make life easier by soaking your fruit a few days before you actually need to start baking.  Why not use the traditional mixing bowls from our large range of Mason & Cash Mixing Bowls and bring a touch of the old days and memories back into your kitchen.  Pick a wet day so you don't find it too difficult to stay inside doing these chores. You will be thrilled when you have the basic prep work done and you just need to mix and bake.

Do invest in an electric mixer.  This is a must if you are a baker and will save you time and effort every time you decide to bake.  It will take the hard work out of mixing and make your life so much easier every time.  The one I'm using at the moment is the Gourmet Professional Kitchen Mixer which has a powerful 1200 Watt motor for excellent mixing and comes with a large range of various other attachments and tools such as a whisk, dough hook and beater.  It also comes with a 1.5L glass jar blender which fits neatly to the top of the mixer's surface for amazing versatility.

Use only good quality cake tins, as in our Masterclass and PME  range of cake tins and pans. These tins and pans are specifically made to help you bake the perfect Christmas cake. I guarantee they will not disappoint.

Whether you prefer to use the traditional method of cooking your Christmas puddings by steaming on the stove top, make sure to use the professional cooks Masterclass Steamer which will make life easy and help to create the perfect pudding.  Some people still prefer to use the traditional plastic lidded pudding bowls which are perfect for steaming or our selection of ceramic  Mason & Cash bowls which are tried and trusted and are suitable for oven steaming also and will never fail to give you the desired effect of the moist and luxurious pudding we are all accustomed to.

Why not add some style to your kitchen too by wearing the all important apron to bring the Christmas spirit into the center of your home with our Mindy Brownes selection of festive aprons.  Beautiful to wear and will make an amazing present for the chef or cook in your life also.
